Notre-Dame de Laon

The Cathedral of Laon is one of the major works of Early Gothic in France. The interior captivates with its clarity and simplicity and reminds very much of the previous epoch of the Romanesque period, above all by the strong horizontal wall division. In particular, the 42-meter-high crossing tower contributes to the brightness in the interior, which is still surprising for early Gothic.
